President Joe Biden, a self-professed Catholic, made the sign of the cross while Florida Democratic Party chairperson Nikki Fried decried the state’s six-week abortion limit at an event on Tuesday.

A clip of the Tampa, Florida, event broadcast on Fox News shows the 81-year-old president cross himself, a practice among Catholics meant to symbolically indicate the figure of Christ’s cross, while Fried said: “And then we come back here to the state of Florida, where Ron DeSantis felt like he needed to run for president, and so 15-weeks wasn’t good enough — we had to go to six-weeks.”

The action garnered negative reactions from prominent conservative and faith-based organizations, including Catholic Vote.

Sharing the video, the Catholic Vote organization wrote, “This. Is. VILE! President Biden makes the Sign of the Cross at an abortion rally in Florida! You cannot invoke GOD and promote Death.”

Catholic Vote President Brian Burch released the following scorching statement:

“Biden’s decision to make the Sign of the Cross in support of abortion extremism is a despicable charade that attempts to co-opt a sacred practice in support of his new abortion religion. His gesture openly mocks the Christian belief in the sanctity of life. There is no divine support for destroying the lives of innocent children, and he should know better. Biden’s gesture suggests he is either terribly naive, or senile, or callously indifferent to the foundational beliefs of millions of Christians in America.”

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America also blasted Biden, writing, “Today, while President @JoeBiden was in Florida for his abortion fearmongering tour, he invoked the sign of the cross during a speech calling for abortion on demand. Is abortion now a left-wing sacrament?”

Dr. Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood director, now a pro-life advocate, wrote, “Joe Biden mocks God and Catholicism by making the sign of the cross at his apparent disgust for a 6 week abortion ban. He prefers abortion up until birth. This is a mockery of God.”

The outrage is pouring in across social media. More below:

From LifeNews.com: “WHAT??? Why is Joe Biden making the sign of the cross while promoting abortion in Florida? This is totally EVIL and sacrilegious.”

Graham Allen: “Are you kidding me? Biden made the Sign of the Cross while on a trip to promote abortion. This is a mockery.”

MRCTV: “Joe Biden’s support of abortion is openly against Catholic teaching. Making the Sign of The Cross in support of infanticide is another level of disgusting.”

Citizen Free Press: “This is blasphemous.”

Paul Mackiewicz: “He made and upside down cross, a satanic symbol. He’s not Catholic or even Christian anymore, he serves a different master and that is a pretty clear sign.”

Ben Zeisloft: “Biden makes the sign of the cross on himself as he hears that DeSantis signed a marginally more strict abortion regulation. This is Biden heaping eternal judgment upon himself. May he repent swiftly. Pray for him.”

Kristan Hawkins: “Joe Biden made the Sign of the Cross at an ABORTION rally. This is a complete mockery of God. EVERY Catholic should be calling this EVIL out.”

X user Ashely called for Biden to be ex-communicated.  She wrote, “@Pontifex Excommunicate Joe Biden now and forever. This evil man invoking the sign of the cross in support of abortion is Satan laughing in YOUR face. God has granted you great power and great responsibility: it is your responsibility to end his affiliation with our church.”
