THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND
“Last night, the DML Report was about knowing when it’s time to take the exit ramp. It kept me up all night, thinking about what I wrote. Today, I go the other direction. In part, I write about knowing when to get back on the highway going full throttle.” — DML
THINGS REALLY NEED TO CHANGE
I’m going through something very personal this week — a long look in the mirror. As I write my book, I’m facing the mistakes I’ve made —on many levels. Although my scorecard reads like a guy worthy of the Hall of Fame in some areas, collectively, I don’t deserve the honor — not yet. At 56 come Aug. 28, I realize my time is running out. I’ve been chasing greatness for decades, and although I’ve had the courage to try new things and rake in some big wins, truth be told, I was a chicken sh*t when it mattered most, and it haunts me.
America’s Land Grab: A National Security Crisis
Below in quotes is something I recently wrote in a chapter for my upcoming book: ‘Chasing Greatness.’ I offer it to you here because it ties in with today’s news on China.
“In 2014, at the height of my popularity on Fox News (The Kelly File), droves of people from around the country were asking me to run for president. I was shocked, unprepared, and baffled as to why. As I toured the nation giving speeches, complete strangers told me they loved me, loved what I stood for, loved that I never backed down, and they loved how I always did the right thing. I started buying into their narratives, and by 2015, I was exploring my options for 2016. I was polling pretty well, and people were offering donations, support, and help from all ends. I had more than 1,000 people offer to volunteer for my campaign, had I decided to run. Ultimately, I chickened out. I mistakenly took the nearest exit ramp to go hide in my house and do Facebook LIVE videos, critiquing other people brave enough to run for office. Looking back, how dare I poke at people who were braver than me?”
In my book, I’ll explain who influenced my exit back then— for now, I’ll keep it to myself, but this week I’ve come to realize I really f*cked up in 2016. I should’ve listened to my inner voice, focused on me, my dreams of leading, and my ambitions for our country. Sadly, I’ll never know what could or would have been. But now, as I see our country struggle in ways that will linger long after Trump is gone, and knowing how I would do things very different than he does in various areas, I wonder if I’m being called to get back on the highway full throttle. Does God want me to revisit what droves of people said I was born to do? Time will tell.
Everyone associates me with illegal immigration, but my prowess goes well beyond the border wall. One of the issues I spoke about most often over the years is China, and how insane it is for our country to allow them to do business in our homeland, let alone buying it up.
TODAY’S HEADLINE: Chinese nationals infiltrate America’s heartland, buying farmland near military bases to spy and sabotage. In Michigan, they’ve targeted land near the nation’s largest National Guard training facility, eyeing electric vehicle battery plants as cover. In Florida, they own nearly 10,000 acres near MacDill Air Force Base, a hub for special operations. Drones operated by Chinese agents have buzzed Vandenberg Air Force Base, probing vulnerabilities. These aren’t isolated incidents—they’re a calculated assault by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to undermine our food security, military readiness, and economic stability.
USDA data reveals Chinese entities own 346,915 acres of U.S. agricultural land as of 2023, less than 1% of foreign-held land, with major holdings by Smithfield Foods (90,000 acres) and billionaire Sun Guangxin (over 100,000 acres in Texas). The CCP’s strategic purchases near sensitive sites amplify the threat.
Why is this allowed? The Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act of 1978 requires reporting but doesn’t restrict foreign purchases. States like Texas permit foreign ownership, and federal oversight via CFIUS only reviews transactions near military sites post-FIRRMA. Economic openness and real estate lobbying weaken restrictions, despite national security risks.
Reclaiming this land is tough. Prospective bans, like the PASS Act, could block future purchases by adversaries, but divesting existing holdings faces legal hurdles. Courts have struck down broad bans as discriminatory, citing the 14th Amendment. Congress could enhance CFIUS authority or pass laws like the Not One More Inch or Acre Act to force sales, but retroactive application risks lengthy litigation.
This land is your land, this land is mind land, this land was made for you and me!
For some insane reason, our government continues to allow foreigners to buy up America’s properties, meanwhile, only 54% of Americans own real estate, with 76 million holding property titles. Yet, 78% face financial distress, with 120 million adults carrying $1.1 trillion in non-mortgage debt and $1.7 trillion in mortgage debt. Global deals prioritize foreign investment over American homeownership, leaving citizens priced out. The CCP exploits this, buying land while Americans drown in debt.
This is a national security crisis. Poor, indebted Americans can’t defend a nation. We must ban foreign adversary land purchases, streamline USDA reporting, and incentivize domestic ownership with lower costs and easier financing. Prioritizing global profits over our people weakens us. A strong America starts with secure land, thriving citizens, and a government that puts its own first. This is how I would address the issue if I was president.
I voted for Trump three times, but I am baffled as to what he is doing with China. Trump has been negotiating with China on trade for months, and he is reportedly willing to allow Chinese students to attend U.S. universities in exchange for favorable tariff rates. This is suicide, long term. This month, a handful of Chinese students were arrested for smuggling the sort of weapons that kill crops. Allowing more Chinese into our country, especially as students, is the single worst deal Trump can make. China cannot be trusted — neither can their students (spies). If Trump signs such a deal, China would be on a path to eventually take over this country, you and your kin will be left with nothing. The math — be it tariffs or students — works in their favor. If Trump makes this poor choice, I may be incentivized to undo it myself, or America is going to be Chinese owned. And there’s only one way in which I would have the power to do such a thing, I gotta get back on the highway. Stay tuned.
