I AM NOT SORRY
“I did not participate in slavery, so I will not apologize for it. I think enslaving of any person, regardless of color, is grounds for the worst punishment. But let us not forget who sold the slaves to America — it wasn’t anyone who looked like me.” — DML
JUNE 19
I am celebrating June 19 for what it is: my son’s birthday. I see no other significance to celebrate that date.
Juneteenth: A Political Scam and National Farce
Juneteenth, marking June 19, 1865, when Union troops freed enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, sounds noble—until you peel back the layers. It’s a federal holiday, signed into law by Joe Biden in 2021, the first since Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 1983. But let’s call it what it is: a cynical ploy to pander to Black voters, who saw through Biden’s charade and ditched Democrats in droves. Biden, flailing in 2020 amid racial unrest, dangled this holiday like shiny bait, hoping to lock in Black support. Spoiler: it flopped. Black voters, fed up with empty gestures, backed Trump—a white guy—over Kamala Harris, a half-Black woman, in 2024. Trump’s no-nonsense vibe and economic focus trumped Biden’s symbolic pandering.
Today, the entire country ground to a halt—post offices, banks, stock markets, federal offices, all shuttered for this overblown “Emancipation Day.” Hideous doesn’t begin to cover it. Why do we need another day to grovel? Martin Luther King Jr. Day honors a civil rights titan. Black History Month already carves out 28 days for reflection. How many times must we say “sorry” for history we didn’t create? This is performative guilt on steroids, a national apology tour that solves nothing but fuels division.
The origins…
Sure, Juneteenth commemorates a real moment—Union General Gordon Granger enforcing Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation in Texas, two years late. But it was a regional celebration, mostly in Texas, until activists like Opal Lee pushed it national. Biden seized it post-George Floyd protests, banking on Black gratitude. Instead, Black voters rejected his patronizing act.
This holiday’s a scam, bloating the federal calendar with redundant remorse. It’s also insulting to the Black community because it’s not about healing—it’s about votes and virtue signaling. Black Americans don’t need another day off; they need real policies, not Biden’s photo-ops. If Biden cared about the Black people in America, he would not have allowed 10 million illegal aliens to cross the border — for it is proven, the illegal alien steals the job of the American worker, especially in the Black community.
Trump’s DEI bans show he gets it: enough with the symbolic fluff. Juneteenth’s closure is a middle finger to progress, a reminder we’re stuck apologizing instead of building. Scrap it. One King Day, one history month—enough already. That said, even my dog was pissed off today, she couldn’t get her scheduled hair cut — the shop closed for the holiday.
